Many locations around the Foundation have poor cell reception. Wi-Fi calling is an option that will utilize the greatly expanded CW Wi-Fi coverage to improve calling experience.
Intended Audience
iPhone users. Information Technology only supports phones belonging to Colonial Williamsburg. We are unable to support personal phones.
Wi-Fi Calling may not be available on all iPhones. To use Wi-Fi Calling, you need an iPhone 5c or later, this is not the only limitation however.
Step-by-step guide
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Scroll to and select Phone settings.
- Select WiFi calling and turn on
- When you turn on Wi-Fi Calling you will be asked to enter an emergency address
- If this is a shared use phone you should enter the address of the building it is located most often. For example: Lodge Housekeeping staff would use the address for the Lodge.
- If this phone typically goes home with the user you can use your home address if you prefer.
- You will be able to tell if Wi-Fi Calling is active if you see "VZW Wi-Fi" at the top near the signal meter.
