Independent Sales Manager Original Vs Pickup
Booking Status Change

Problem

Solution

In order to troubleshoot this, it is important to understand the rules around linking bookings between Opera Independent and Opera Marriott.

  1. CWC blocks must be mapped to Marriott blocks using the UDFN02 field (PHFAK ID)
    1. Each Marriott block must be mapped to one and only one CWC sub block in independent.
    2. Each CWC sub block can only be mapped to one Marriott block.
    3. If the Independent master block or non-cwc blocks are mapped, they are ignored.
  2. The CWC sub block is either SUB_BLOCK or SUB_ALLOCATION.
    1. Never been the source of an issue.
  3. The Marriott block is REGULAR_BOOKING or MASTER_ALLOCATION
    1. Never been the source of an issue.
  4. The independent block must not be deleted.
  5. The BEGIN_DATE of the independent block must be within 10 days of the Marriott block.
    1. This was put in place because it is not uncommon for blocks to be rescheduled. Blocks should be cancelled and remade but typically the Marriott block gets reused so this is an attempt to account for that. Ideally there would be new Marriott blocks created when bookings are rescheduled.
  6. The sales manager needs to be the owner of the sub block.
    1. If different owners are assigned to each sub block, the sub block will be split up between the different sales managers on the report.

Troubleshooting:

  1. The vast majority of issues resolve around the UDFN02 field not being mapped correctly. I usually check this first and see that either:
    1. Multiple CWC blocks have the same UDFN02 value. This can cause job failures so I jump on them pretty quickly.
    2. Only the master block is mapped to Marriott block. In this case we just need to get the CWC sub block updated.
    3. The CWC bock is mapped to the wrong Marriott block. This doesn’t happen very often but can happen when shuffling bookings around.
    4. There are multiple Marriott blocks but not a CWC Independent block for each one. (That is what caused this issue)
  2. If this is an owner issue, we’ve found a strange situation where sometimes an owner will be one thing in the opera front end but the database stores something different. In this case I ask to have the owner switched to somebody else then back to the correct person. I can’t say why this have a suspicion that it is related to copying down from a master block.
  3. There are a lot of measures and it's not always clear which one is being used. These are typically labeled appropriately and documented in various implementation tickets but the reason for the use is not always documented. These can be changed as our business processes evolve.
    1. Some measures use the "At Def" version. This is calculated based on the last value extracted when the booking was in the DEF status. One example of this is the Guaranteed Tavern value.
