Mapping a printer to your computer allows you to print to that printer. In order to successfully map a network printer you must first know the printer name, you can find the printer name on a sticker located on the printer itself.

Printer names usually start with “PR” or “MFD”. The printer name is different from the printer model (LaserJet, WorkCentre, etc)

Step-by-step guide

  1. Know the name of the printer you wish to map to your computer

  2. On the Start menu click in the “Search programs and files” box

  3. Type "run" and press Enter

  4. In the run dialog box type "\\printserve12012" and press Enter

  5. From the list of printers, find the name of the printer you wish to map to and double click on it

    Info

If you do not see your printer listed, verify the name is correct. If still not listed, during Step 4 instead of "\\printserve12012" try "\\printservebhs", "\\printservegbo" or "\\printfso"

  6. The printer will now be mapped and you will be able to print to it from your computer
