Problem
There was a GLDBFA.CWF_Confidential connection used in many Excel workbooks with a Power BI data source. This data source needed to be updated. Workbooks containing it will need to be updated. When updating, they will receive an error saying they don't have proper permissions on spreadsheets that used to work.
Solution
Open the spreadsheet that is causing problems.- Browse to the Data menu, then open the Queries and Connections:

- Right click on the GLDBFA.CWF_Confidential source in the window that opens on the right, and select Properites:

- Click on the Definition tab in the center of the ensuing screen

- Enter this string in place of the existing Connection String:
- Provider=MSOLAP.8;Integrated Security=ClaimsToken;Persist Security Info=True;Initial Catalog=sobe_wowvirtualserver-717254ec-c72f-432f-8fe4-a537e35fe3c6;Data Source=pbiazure://api.powerbi.com;MDX Compatibility=1;Safety Options=2;MDX Missing Member Mode=Error;Identity Provider=https://login.microsoftonline.com/common, https://analysis.windows.net/powerbi/api, 929d0ec0-7a41-4b1e-bc7c-b754a28bddcc;Update Isolation Level=2
- Close the dialog box with OK, and it should refresh your spreadsheet.
- Repeat this for each GLDBFA.CWF_Confidential connection if your workbook contains more than one.
